My Favorite Ancient Rituals... What Are Yours?

My Favorite Ancient Rituals... What Are Yours?

There are currents in life that pull at us, invisible and undeniable.

We can't always explain why we're drawn to certain paths, people, or practices. We just know that we are.

For me, one of the strongest currents has always been ancient rituals.

These practices are sacred to me. Not because they're trendy or Instagram-worthy, but because there's something profound about connecting to what our ancestors did across cultures, through generations. That feels like coming home.

What do I mean by "Ancient Rituals"?

I'm talking about timeless practices passed down through the ages:

  • Meditation, breathwork, prayer

  • Working with the 5 elements: wood, fire, earth, metal, water

  • Moon gazing, grounding barefoot on the earth

  • Using herbs, oils, crystals

  • Journaling or writing by candlelight

  • Setting intentions with the seasons

  • Movement practices like yoga or tai chi

These are anchors that connect us to something older and wiser than our modern hustle.

Are any of these familiar to you?

So you can imagine… I tried everything.

Crystals everywhere in my home.

Oracle decks stacked on my nightstand.

Sage bundles, singing bowls, essential oil blends for every moon phase.

My spiritual practice looked like a metaphysical shop.

And I loved it all.

But over time, I found myself gravitating toward just a few practices.

The ones that actually moved something in me. The ones that consistently opened doors, shifted energy, and kept me aligned with my intuition.

More tools don't always mean deeper connection. Sometimes, simplicity creates more space for the MAGIC to come through.

Here's what stayed.

Breathwork

If I could only choose one practice, it would be breathwork.

Your breath is the bridge between your conscious mind and your subconscious. It's the remote control for your nervous system. And it's always with you.

Sometimes it's just:

  • 4 counts in, 4 counts out to calm anxiety

  • Deep belly breaths when processing emotions

  • Rapid breathing to release stuck energy

The ancient yogis called this pranayama… controlling the life force. They understood what modern science is only now confirming: breath is the fastest path to shifting your state.

Energy Work & Third Eye Focus: Tuning Into Inner Guidance

I focus a lot on my third eye… that space between your eyebrows, the seat of intuition. This is your ajna chakra, your consciousness command center.

When I place attention there during meditation or on the go, I'm not forcing visions. I'm just... listening. Tuning in. Clearing the static so I can hear the whispers underneath.

For me, it's about:

  • Sensing where energy feels stuck

  • Strengthening intuition through focused awareness

  • Noticing the subtle shifts when I'm aligned

The ancients knew we have an entire energetic anatomy beyond our physical body. I support this work by taking Pineal XT Gold. It helps keep my pineal gland functioning optimally so my third eye stays clear and receptive.

Consistent third eye work has made me more intuitive, more discerning, more connected to my inner guidance.

Yoga

I don't do hour-long flows daily. Sometimes it's just five minutes of gentle stretches or a few poses before bed.

And my favorite?

Child's pose first thing in the morning.

Kneeling. Folding forward.

Forehead resting on the bed (yes, I’m still half awake).

That gentle pressure between the eyebrows naturally encourages introspection, mental clarity, and inward focus. It's like the pose itself knows where to direct your awareness.

Candle Rituals: Light as Prayer

I have a small angel altar in my home. Just a quiet corner with meaningful items and candles.

Lighting candles feel sacred. It's a physical act representing something bigger: illumination, hope, divine presence, transformation.

Across cultures and time, candles have been portals to the sacred. Fire transforms. Light cuts through darkness.

When I light my angel candles, I'm:

  • Setting an intention

  • Inviting guidance

  • Marking a moment as holy

  • Acknowledging something bigger is present

Sometimes I just sit and connect with it. Watch the flame flicker. Let my mind settle.

Crystals

I used to collect every crystal imaginable.

Now? I keep just a few.

The ones that call to me. The ones I reach for instinctively when I need support.

From Sumerian amulets to Egyptian healing tools to Chinese medicine, crystals have been valued for their frequencies. Having a physical object helps ground spiritual practice into something tangible.

It's less about having the right crystal and more about having the ones that resonate.

Why Simplicity Works

Spiritual practice isn't about accumulation. It's about depth.

When I had 30 different tools, I was exploring, experimenting, discovering. That was beautiful and necessary.

Now, with just these few practices, I go deeper. Build consistency. Actually feel the shifts.

These rituals aren't about perfection. They're about coming home to myself. Creating space to hear the guidance that's always there. Staying connected to the unseen currents moving through life.

Now I'm curious about YOU…

What are YOUR go-to ancient rituals?

What practices do you return to when you need to recenter, seek guidance, or feel connected to something bigger?

Maybe it's something I mentioned: breathwork, candles, crystals, yoga. Or maybe it's walking in nature, pulling tarot cards, writing morning pages, moon bathing, or sitting in silence with your coffee.

Do you feel that pull too?

Hit reply and let me know. I read every response, and your practice might inspire someone else (or teach me something new!).

And if there's one ritual from my list you want me to dive deeper into… the rituals, the why or how I use it day-to-day, just let me know.

With love & light,

Wendy 💜
