Do You Have Any Of These 11 Signs Of Metabolic Imbalance?

As a health-aware, weight-conscious person, you have probably realized that there are an abundance of factors that affect your ability to lose weight that are not solved with quick fixes and counting calories.

So many things can contribute to your physical state including hormone imbalances, thyroid dysfunction, and underlying metabolic health issues. Maybe you just feel like something isn’t totally right in your body, but you’re not sure exactly what.

Often that not-quite-right-feeling is down to some sort of metabolic imbalance.

If you feel a bit overwhelmed by trying to understand what might be going on with your metabolism, read the below signs and check how many of them you have.

  1. Weight Changes - Sudden weight gain or challenges losing weight despite all efforts to diet and exercise.
  2. Fluctuations in Energy - A feeling of exhaustion no matter how much rest you get, or experiencing sudden energy crashes during the day.
  3. Hormonal Imbalances - Mood swings and irregular menstrual cycles.
  4. Digestive issues - Bloating, constipation, gas, or diarrhea that persists.
  5. Brain fog - Concentration and focus issues, anxiety or depression.

  6.  Skin issues- Skin rashes, acne, eczema, psoriasis, or dry/ oily skin.
  7. Insomnia - Problems falling asleep, staying asleep or waking up tired despite hours of sleep.
  8. Hair and nail changes - Brittle nails, hair loss or changes that you cannot explain.
  9. Temperature sensitivity - Feeling cold or hot despite your environmental conditions.
  10. Muscle or joint discomfort - Aches and pains you cannot explain, stiffness or weakness even when you have been resting.
  11. Cravings for food - Appetite changes or frequency cravings for sugary or processed foods, constant hunger or lack of appetite.

If you have answered yes to even just one or two of these eleven signs, it could indicate some kind of metabolic imbalance that may be affecting your weight-loss journey.

The fact is, your body is an amazing instrument that craves balance and harmony within its multitude of processes. The best way to begin healing your body is by treating it as a whole, and not just isolating different issues you might have.

You need to honor your body’s innate wisdom and focus on getting as healthy as possible so that you can reclaim your vitality and achieve your goals.

Start with these Easy Tips:

  • Up your fruit and vegetable intake each day, and make sure your diet is balanced, based on whole-foods rich in complex carbohydrates, lean proteins, and healthy fats.

  • Make sure you eat meals that promote healthy blood sugar and avoid sudden spikes (by avoiding refined flours and processed, sugary foods)

  • Prioritize quality, rested sleep each night.

  • Move your body! Get movement into your day in small chunks - take the stairs, walk the dog, do some stretches etc. Just make sure it happens regularly and often, not just in one big workout after being sedentary all day long.

  • Manage your stress with meditation, yoga, or relaxing activities.
