What Really Happens If You Drink A Green Smoothie Every Day For A Week?
You might have seen a lot of celebrities talking about their go-to green smoothies recently. Last summer Reese Witherspoon posted her favorite recipe for her green smoothie on Instagram, and I’ve seen plenty of others since all over social media.

I don’t know about you, but sometimes it feels like eating healthy food is easier to talk about than to actually maintain! A friend of mine told me about this green smoothie trend going on, where people are joining the challenge to drink a smoothie a day for at least a week and tracking their results.
I thought I might as well give it a go, right? Nothing to lose.
So here’s what I did and the results I saw.
Firstly, I don’t have a fancy, expensive blender. You don’t really need to splash out on one, you just need to be able to blend your ingredients well.
How to Make your Green Smoothie
This is the basic recipe I follow, you can pick whatever ingredients you like of course.
Choose your Vegetables: Spinach, kale, cucumber, celery, chard, arugula.
Choose your Fruit: Mango, berries, pineapple, apple, kiwi.
Add a frozen banana or avocado (makes it creamier)
Add some spice (like cinnamon or ginger)
Add nut butter (I like almond)
Add seeds (hemp/ chia/ sesame/ sunflower/ pumpkin)
Simply put everything into your blender and add around 1 cup of water or plant-based milk (oat/ almond/ soy).
Blend until smooth.
TIP - Adding unsalted nut butter and/or seeds gives the smoothie a little healthy fat to keep you feeling fuller for longer. So if you are replacing breakfast with the smoothie, for example, you won’t be craving anything else until lunchtime.
Okay, here’s what I experienced after drinking this smoothie every day for one week either as my breakfast OR as my afternoon snack.
1. I had more energy.
I literally felt buzzing after drinking my smoothie, but in a calmer, more alert way than the frantic buzz of coffee. The energy boost it gave me was a really nice feeling, kind of like the endorphin rush of exercise.

2. I had better focus.
I felt like I could get to work on tasks and maintain concentration and focus much more. I was less scattered, and less inclined to reach for my phone to start mindlessly scrolling social media.
3. My sleep improved.
My sleep quality seemed better and I was waking up earlier without feeling groggy or tired.
4. I looked brighter and my skin was clearer.
I don’t know if this was a psychological thing or what, but I promise my skin just looked more glowy at the end of the week! Maybe it was down to the hydration and fresh fruit and veg.
My Verdict?
This is something I will be continuing to add to my daily routine. Even if I miss a day or two, I definitely want to make smoothies a part of my regular diet. I just felt so good drinking them, and I know the benefits happening in my body.
Making sure your diet is full of nutrient dense foods is so crucial for your immune system and overall health.
When you feed yourself right, you make it easier to maintain the right weight for your body, not to mention prevent premature aging, chronic inflammation, and other debilitating issues.
It’s so simple to just add a green smoothie to your diet, even just 3 times a week and see results.
